Sheila L. Ramsey, is a native of Jackson, Mississippi and is currently a doctoral student at Liberty University, pursuing the Doctor of Music Education degree. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Jackson State University in 2007, where she studied Vocal Performance, and received the Master of Music Education degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.

 

She has been featured as a soloist for the Black Heritage Choir, which has been internationally acclaimed throughout Europe and America. She has served as artist for the Opera/South presentation of Opera and all that Jazz, as well as From Mozart to Motown, has given lecture/recitals on the study of African American women in opera, and has performed a myriad of performances where she has won numerous awards in both gospel and opera. Her dual ability to sing opera in the trained voice as well as other popular vocal styles has caused her to be quite the draw for audiences looking for such a unique sound.

 

After performing in New York, as well as teaching private vocal instruction in her own private studio, she now teaches as an Adjunct Instructor of private voice at Tougaloo College.
